Savannah and Jacob Krol
Summer Team June-July 2004

Above: This picture was taken from the Cerro de Judío, where the Cox's first church is.
In this picture you are seeing about less than one twentieth of the actual city.

Dates June 14th Monday 2:07PM enter Mexico, through July 16th Friday 3:15PM leaving

This is a hilly section of the city on the southwestern side. The Mexican Pastor that went with us and Brother Cox was Brother Abdiel Luna Gutierrez, the pastor of Brother Cox's first church up in this area.

Notes 1: Savannah, Brother Abdiel, and Kelsie Cox go up steps with a dog growling and barking at them all the way. Brother Adbiel deals with a lady in a house.

Philippians 3:2 Beware of dogs ...  Now we know why Paul warned us of the dogs!!!!

We worked in getting the new church building for the Cox's church ready. They had a church work day Saturday, and we painted, cleaned, and pulled up weeds and rocks from the area that will be grass.

  • Laying Sod for new Church Building 6-26 - Tlalhuac See Pictures

We took Wednesday morning to lay sod in the new church building. Jacob used a pick axe to break up the fallow ground, and then we laid the sod. Savannah started the new school year for Kelsie and Russ.

We all went to see the Pyramids of Teotihuacan to see the ancient Aztec ruins. The day was a little overcast, but it was hot anyway. We all made it up the 245 steps (except Tule because she had a twisted foot) to the top of the Sun pyramid, but it looked like rain before we could get up the Moon pyramid.

  • Visit to Cuernavaca with Savannah & Jacob - See Pictures posted 07/05/2004

On June 29th we went to visit Cuernavaca with Savannah and Jacob. It was a day trip to just get away from the city. We stopped at a point on the highway that overlooks Cuernavaca. Very nice view of the city. We saw a museum and ate in a sidewalk cafe. Jacob and Savannah tried their hands at eating some Mexican hot salsa! Yummy!

  • Work Day 7/03 for preparing new Church local - See Pictures posted 07/05/2004

Pastor Abdiel Luna, of Pastor Cox's first church, came over with a man from their church to help prepare the walls of the new church property for painting. These are pictures of the work day. Some really nice pictures of Russ Cox (7 years old) mixing concrete mud with Abdiel!

  • Savannah's Birthday party with our Church people- See Pictures posted 07/05/2004

Savannah's birthday was on July 4th. Our church had a meal and a cake for her Sunday after church. These are the photos of our church meal, and Savannah's cake afterwards in our home. Mexicans have the custom of having the birthday person take the first bite out of the cake after they cut it. Traditionally, somebody comes up behind them and pushes their head and nose into the cake just as they are taking the bite. Oops! We forgot to tell Savannah about that! She got it good!

  • Evangelism on 7/3 in a large street market- See Pictures posted 07/05/2004

On July 3rd we had a combined work day on the new church building and evangelism day. Raul from our church joined us and we went out into a street market about 3 miles long to pass out tracts. Savannah and Kelsie made up one team, and Raul and Jacob made up the other team, and Pastor Cox parked the car and took photos. We passed out about 2000 tracts (God's Simple Plan of Salvation - donated by Coatesville Baptist Church in Coatsville, IN - Pastor Gaugler) that day. We have various pictures of novelties in the market. We usually get one contact or visit from a day of passing out tracts like this.

  • DVBS in Pastor Cox's first church (Pastor Abdiel Luna) - See Pictures posted 07/06/2004
